Teddy is 47 cm long and in good conditionn for over 80 years old. When you press his tummy he makes a musical sound. All his arms and legs and head move. His paws are a soft velvet. We think he has mohair fur.
This very special vintage teddy was donated by Diane from Mount Martha after she read a magazine article about The Toy Adoption Company. This beautiful bear was Diane’s own childhood teddy and is now more than 80 years old.
Imagine the world when this bear first arrived around 1945, as the world was emerging from World War II. Toys were precious in those days, and a teddy like this would have been treasured and carefully looked after.
Over the decades he quietly watched history unfold. He would have been around for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953, the excitement of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing, the arrival of television in family living rooms, the colourful decades that followed, and the incredible changes of the modern world.
He may also be a Chiltern Hugmee teddy bear, a special design known for a little musical tummy, when gently pressed, he plays a tune. It’s a charming feature that made these bears very loved in their time.
Considering his great age, his condition is very good, and honestly we wish we all looked this good at over 80.
Through all these years he has clearly been loved and carefully kept. Now, after eight decades of memories, he has been passed on so he can begin a new chapter and be loved once again.
We hope you love Teddy as much as we do. 🧸
